Obama HSR plan good for railroads, investors and environment

iStock Analyst.com is running one of the best and most informative stories TFA has seen in a while. While directed at investors, it makes a strong case on

• the substantial investment in existing railroad operating companies (UP, BNSF, CSX, etc.) improving rail capacity for passenger and freight
• the decrease in highway congestion (which will only worsen)
• the decline in truck and highway related pollution
• benefit in providing more transport options for passenger trips

This fits perfectly with Boardman’s comments about the incremental approach to improving ground transportation. It is important to start now with a program that is practical and affordable.
