More choices for better transportation

NorthJersey.com: Port Authority chief to join Amtrak board

The story does not mention how many seats on the Amtrak Board of Directors remain open. Also, there is a question of regional diversity. While the NEC should be well represented, this is a board that makes life or death decisions for trains that serve rural America. Surely those of us west of Philadelphia deserve a voice.

The “NECentricity” of Amtrak is overwhelming. Move Amtrak headquarters to Chicago’s Union Station complex to get their collective corporate heads out of the NEC/WDC elitist mode and perhaps the rest of the nation will be treated with respect or at least acknowledged!
