Florida Rep. Brown: Establish “model” high speed rail lines

Rep. Corrine Brown (D-Fla.) says the first stage of developing America’s high speed rail program is to establish one or two high quality corridors. That’s smart. What’s more, one of them does not have to be in Florida. Progressive Railroading has a complete rundown.

Chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) Committee’s Railroad Subcommittee, Brown long has been “battling” Florida’s legislature to win approval of an initial commuter-rail system in central Florida that, in effect, would lay the groundwork for a statewide HSR line, she said in a prepared statement.

  1. She is also championing efforts to return a Sunset service to Florida and recognises that the incremental approach is probably the best way although the model approach would be good as well. Likely California will lead the way in this venture though.

    Thanks to JEB BUSH California has a good shot at it. The Bush family get their share of political cash from Southwest Airline who have benefited greatly from the Bush family political favor.
