The United Kingdom will get its’ first 186 mph. train on November 14 and it is already a big hit. Of course, this kind of thing would never work in the United States. Americans do not desire, and will not tolerate, efficient and comfortable ground transportation. If we must travel, we expect to be spiritually cleansed by the suffering. Those Europeans are just softies.
More than 110,000 passengers have booked tickets between Nov 14 and Christmas and the first trains to Paris and Brussels on Nov 14 are sold out, it said.loadAd(‘mpu’)Eurostar said there has been significant growth in premium ticket sales, with the new line allowing business travellers to reach the centres of Paris and Brussels before 9 am without travelling the night before.
The new line, the southern part of which is already open, will cut journey times by at least 20 minutes, with non-stop times of London-Paris in 2 hours 15 minutes and London-Brussels in 1 hour 51 minutes. Eurostar trains on the new line will be 50 pct faster than the fastest UK domestic rail service.
